I am a personal injury lawyer and hurt people need me. This usually involves the negligent actions of a third party. When someone hurts one of my clients my job is to get compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and past/present/future mental and physical pain and suffering. Compensation means money. The law allows for the recovery of money to make a person “whole” again.
Other Types Of Lawyers
I do not work on criminal defense, bankruptcy, wills, trusts, elder law, commercial, property, or any other types of cases. A lot of lawyers that do these types of cases dabble in personal injury. That is a bad idea. Could I do a bankruptcy case? Yes. But I have not been doing that type of law for ten years or developed the necessary skills to be particularly dangerous. It is my opinion that lawyers need to do one type of thing and get really good at it.
Cases Of Personal Injury Lawyers
My injury cases are mostly crash cases. That is because more of those cases exist than say a slip and fall or medical malpractice case. They are just more common. And by crash cases I mean car crash, motorcycle crash, truck crash. I also take brain injury, day care injury, dog bite, pool injury, and wrongful death cases at Dettman Law.
My Goal As A Personal Injury Lawyer
I am essentially a money lawyer. My job is to get client’s money. I do that by negotiating with an insurance carrier or defense lawyer and/or asking a jury for sum of money at the courthouse. I do not put people in jail or prison (I used to do that). My practice sometimes works along side prosecutors, but I’m no longer an employee of the state. The goal at all times of a personal injury lawyer is the money in my client’s pocket and to act in the best interest of a client. We do that at Dettman Law.
