I finished my Florida CLEs today, so I was weirdly celebrating.
I’m Kentucky half, Florida half. The differences between practicing in the two states aren’t just legal — they’re stylistic.
South Florida vs. Kentucky
It is accurate that Florida lets me keep a little bit of the beard on the Florida side, where when I got to Kentucky it was all pretty clean-shaven. Less tight suits in Kentucky. I’d say South Florida is more of a tailored situation.
The Prosecutor Uniform
For the first three years of practice, I was a prosecutor. When we were at trial, it was almost a uniform we had to wear: blue suit, white shirt, red tie.
We actually had a dress consultant come in one day to tell us basically what to wear. I guess some people were wearing some stuff that the boss man did not like at all.
So today I’m celebrating — finished my Florida CLEs.
