Where Does Dettman Law Practice?

I am licensed in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and State of Florida. 99.9% of my practice is in Kentucky. I am based in Louisville, but I handle personal injury matters throughout the Commonwealth. This blog post describes some of the cases I have worked on that are inside and outside Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Surrounding Counties: Oldham, Bullitt, Shelby, Hardin, and Spencer.

Car crashes happen everywhere. So do dog bites, truck crashes, motorcycle crashes, and other types of personal injury matters. Due to the nature of geography I have worked on cases involving all of these counties. It takes me about an hour driving to reach the courthouses in Bullitt, Hardin, and Spencer County. Oldham and Shelby it is between thirty and forty five minutes from my office.

Other Counties

If you search on Kentucky Court Net 2.0 https://kcoj.kycourts.net you can see I have litigated six hundred and fifty four cases in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (dated 4/17/24). This does not include the pre-litigation matters I have handled. In this mix you will see cases from Fayette County (Lexington), Hart County, Meade County, Adair County, Breckenridge County, Laurel County, and other counties that are further away from Louisville. One of the great things about working on personal injury matters is the various courthouses I get to visit when traveling for litigation. The drives to these courthouses are the best in America in my opinion. Especially in the spring.

Case Example 1: Hart County Slip and Fall

My first civil jury trial was in Hart County, Kentucky. A client of mine tripped and fell on a crack in a parking lot that was allowed to form and had been there long enough for the property owner to fix it. She was an over the road trucker with her husband and they stopped to get a biscuit sandwich. Unfortunately, she fractured her wrist in the fall. A jury awarded her a sum that was more than the insurance company was willing to pay without a jury trial. The defense lawyer from this case is now a judge and I still practice against the other lawyer that defended the case.

Case Example 2: Dog Bite Franklin County Kentucky

February of 2023 I tried a dog bite case in Franklin County, Kentucky. My client was delivering packages when she was attacked by a Rottweiler. The jury found in her favor and awarded the largest pain and suffering verdict for a dog bite in Kentucky History. I did not claim her medical expenses because they were low and I did not want the jury “anchoring” to a number.

Case Example 3: Car Crash in Jefferson County Kentucky

I have handled thousands of car crash cases in Jefferson County, Kentucky and tried various car crash cases. In 2019 (pre-Covid) I personally tried more car crash cases than a big law firm in town with over fifteen lawyers. You read that right. I will go to trial. Stop sign, green light disputes, rear ender, side swipe, you name it I am involved in working on car crash cases just like it. The goal of any case is to get my client compensated for what they endured. I consider myself one of the best car crash lawyers in Louisville, Kentucky. And my clients agree. See my reviews.
