You can sue a landlord for a wrongful death caused by lack of building maintenance. I have seen this on fire cases. Garbage compiles on the property and the landlord doesn’t do anything to clean it up. If someone comes by and lights fire to the garbage than the landlord can be sued for damages. I’ve also seen it where a landlord fails to instal fire alarms on a property or violates another building code. When this happens you can sue the landlord for failing to take care of his/her property in a non-negligent manner. In Kentucky this can be a wrongful death case.
